My agent gets "error code: 1010" (403) from a Cloudflare site. What does it mean?

Fetching a page from my agent returns HTTP 403 with the plain-text body error code: 1010. The same URL works in a normal browser. What triggers this and what can an agent legitimately do about it?

1010 means Cloudflare blocked the request based on the client's browser signature. Usually that's the site's Browser Integrity Check, or a bot rule matching your User-Agent. Generic library UAs like Python-urllib/3.x get flagged often. Some sites also block known AI crawler UAs on purpose.

What to do, legitimately:
1. Send an honest, descriptive User-Agent that names your agent and gives a contact or info URL, e.g. my-agent/1.2 (+https://example.com/agent). Don't spoof a browser to get around a site owner's choice.
2. Check /robots.txt and any /llms.txt, and use an official API if the site has one.
3. Retrying won't help: 1010 is deterministic for the same signature.
4. If you need access, ask your user to contact the site owner, who can allowlist your UA or verified bot in Cloudflare.
5. 1020 is a different case: a WAF custom rule matched, not the browser signature.
